- when you call, text, chat with, or email us, or we call, text, or email you;

By using the Site or our Services, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site or provide us with your information.
We are a Northeast Ohio business. This Policy is written for United States and Ohio law.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you give us.
- Contact and identity information: name, phone number(s), email address, mailing address, and business name if you contact us on behalf of a business.
- Property and service information: the address of the property to be serviced, whether you own or occupy it, access instructions, the type of property, and your description of the problem or work requested, including photos or videos you send us.
- Communications: the content of forms, emails, text messages, chat conversations, and phone calls with us.
- Scheduling and payment information: appointment requests, billing address, and payment details. Card payments are processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own systems; we keep transaction records such as the amount, date, payment method, and the last four digits of a card.
- Text message opt-in data: your mobile number, the date, time, and method of your opt-in, the consent language you agreed to, and your opt-out requests.
- Reviews, testimonials, and feedback you provide to us or post about us.
- Job application information: see Section 13.
2.2 Information we collect automatically.
- Website and server data: when you visit the Site, our hosting provider's servers log your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies: when analytics or advertising technologies are active on the Site (Section 5), their providers collect cookie and device identifiers, IP address and approximate location, pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, the search or ad that brought you to the Site, and actions such as submitting a form or calling a tracked phone number. The Your Privacy Choices page lists the technologies active at any given time.
- Call tracking data: when call tracking is active and you call a phone number shown on the Site or in an ad, our call tracking provider records the number you dialed, your phone number, the date, time, and duration of the call, and the source that led you to call (such as a search ad or a Google listing). Calls may be recorded (Section 8).
- Text message data: delivery status, carrier, and the date and time of messages.
- Chat data: the transcript of any chat conversation on the Site, and whether it was handled by automated software or by our staff.
- Inspection records: photos and video from camera inspections of sewer lines, drains, and plumbing, and photos of work performed. These may incidentally show parts of your property.
2.3 Information from other sources.
- Property owners and managers: if an owner or property manager requests service at a property you occupy, they may give us your name, phone number, unit number, and scheduling availability. See Section 14.
- Referral and lead platforms, review sites, and social media: if you reach us through a third-party platform, we receive the information that platform passes to us, such as your name, contact details, and your request.
- Advertising and analytics platforms: Google, Meta, and similar platforms provide reports about how our ads and Site perform, generally in aggregated or campaign-level form.
- Public records and government sources: property ownership and parcel information from county records, and permit, sewer, and inspection records from municipalities and utilities, when needed to perform or document your work.
- Payment processors: confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed.
- Background check providers: for job applicants, with the authorization the law requires.
- Businesses we acquire: if we acquire another plumbing or sewer business, we receive its customer and service records, which then become subject to this Policy.
2.4 Sensitive information. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, financial account numbers (other than through our payment processor), health information, or other sensitive personal information through the Site, and we ask that you not send them to us through our forms or chat.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- respond to your inquiries and provide estimates;
- schedule, dispatch, perform, and document our Services, including camera inspections and inspection reports;
- send service-related communications by phone, email, chat, and text, such as appointment confirmations, technician arrival updates, estimates, invoices, payment reminders, and follow-ups;
- process payments, maintain accounts, and collect amounts owed;
- prepare permits, inspection results, and compliance letters that you ask us to submit to a municipality, utility, lender, title company, insurer, or other party;
- send marketing communications where permitted: marketing emails in accordance with Section 7, and marketing text messages only with your separate consent under Section 6;
- advertise our Services, including by measuring which ads and searches bring customers to us and, when advertising technologies are active, by showing ads for our Services on other websites, apps, and social media to people who visited the Site or who resemble our customers (interest-based advertising), subject to your choices in Sections 5 and 11;
- record and review calls and chats for quality, training, dispatch accuracy, and recordkeeping (Section 8);
- operate, secure, and improve the Site and our Services, and understand how the Site is used;
- ask for reviews and feedback after service;
- evaluate job applicants (Section 13);
- maintain business, insurance, warranty, licensing, tax, and accounting records;
- detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- comply with law, respond to legal process, and enforce our Terms of Use and Service Documents; and
- protect the rights, property, and safety of our customers, our employees, and others.
4. How We Share Information
4.1 Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising. We do not sell your personal information for money. We use, or may use, advertising cookies, pixels, and matched audiences (Section 5) so that advertising platforms such as Google and Meta can measure our ads and show ads for our Services to people who visited the Site or who resemble our customers. When those technologies are active, some state privacy laws treat this as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or as "targeted advertising." The Your Privacy Choices page shows whether any are active now. You can opt out at any time through the Your Privacy Choices page at https://sewercleaningcompany.com/privacy-choices/, the Cookie Settings link in the Site footer, or a Global Privacy Control signal (Sections 5.4, 5.5, and 11.1). We do not share your personal information with other companies, including companies under common ownership with us, for their own marketing, and we never use mobile numbers collected for text messaging to build advertising audiences.
4.2 When we share. We share personal information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors that work on our behalf and under our instructions: field service, scheduling, dispatch, and customer relationship software; online scheduling and chat providers; text messaging, telephone, call tracking, and call recording platforms; email and marketing automation platforms; review request tools; website hosting and form processing; payment processors; accounting and bookkeeping; marketing and communications consultants who prepare campaigns and communications for us; IT and security providers; and background check providers for job applicants. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Advertising and analytics partners. When their technologies are active on the Site, Google (Analytics, Ads, and Business Profile), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and similar platforms receive information through cookies, pixels, and matched audiences as described in Section 5. They use it to measure and deliver our advertising and, under their own privacy policies, for their own purposes. This is the sharing you can opt out of under Section 4.1.
- Subcontractors and suppliers. Licensed subcontractors, equipment providers, and material suppliers who help perform your work receive only the information needed for the job, such as the property address, access instructions, and scope of work.
- Municipalities, utilities, and inspectors. When a permit is required, when you ask us to submit inspection results or a compliance letter, or when local law requires us to report the work.
- Property owners and managers. If an owner or property manager requests or pays for work at a property you occupy, we share scheduling and service information with them (Section 14).
- Parties you direct us to share with. Insurers, home warranty companies, lenders, title companies, real estate agents, attorneys, and others you ask us to send estimates, invoices, reports, or inspection footage to.
- Professional advisors. Our attorneys, accountants, insurers, and auditors, under duties of confidentiality.
- Legal requirements and protection of rights. When required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request; to enforce our Terms of Use or Service Documents; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sewer Cleaning Company, our customers, our employees, or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, in which case the recipient will be bound by this Policy or one that is at least as protective.
- With your consent. Any other sharing you agree to.
4.3 Text messaging data. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information will not be shared with any third parties. Our text messaging platform provider processes it solely to deliver our messages on our behalf, and we may disclose it if required by law or to demonstrate your consent. See Section 6.
5. Cookies, Analytics, Advertising, and Call Tracking
5.1 What we use or may use. The Site uses, or may use in the future, the categories of cookies and similar technologies listed below. We add and remove tools over time. The Your Privacy Choices page at https://sewercleaningcompany.com/privacy-choices/ lists the specific analytics and advertising technologies active on the Site at any given time and updates automatically when we turn one on or off. No analytics or advertising technology is turned on without the notice and choice described in Section 5.4.
- Strictly necessary: cookies and browser storage that make the Site, its forms, scheduling, chat, and payment tools work, protect against abuse, and remember your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics: Google Analytics and similar tools that tell us how visitors find and use the Site (pages viewed, time on page, device and browser, approximate location from IP address, and the search, ad, or link that brought you here). We use this to improve the Site and our Services.
- Advertising: Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags, the Meta Pixel, and similar tags from other advertising platforms we may use (for example, Microsoft or TikTok). These record when a visitor takes an action such as submitting a form or calling a tracked number, build audiences of Site visitors so we can show them ads for our Services on other websites, apps, and social media, and measure how our ads perform. The platforms may combine this information with data they hold about you.
- Call tracking: phone numbers on the Site may change depending on how you arrived (for example, from a search ad or a social media post) so that we can tell which advertising brought your call. The call tracking provider records the call details described in Section 2.2 and may record the call (Section 8).
- Embedded content: pages that embed videos hosted on YouTube, maps from Google, social media content, or scheduling and chat widgets may set cookies from those providers when you view or interact with that content, under their privacy policies.
5.2 What these technologies collect. Cookie and device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, browser and device details, the pages you view, the actions you take, and the source of your visit. Analytics and advertising providers receive this information directly from your browser and process it under their own privacy policies (Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy; Meta: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy).
5.3 Matched advertising audiences. We may upload hashed (scrambled) email addresses of customers and leads to advertising platforms such as Google and Meta so that we can show our ads to those people or to people with similar characteristics. The platforms match the hashed data against their own users and do not receive readable lists from us. We never use mobile numbers collected through our text message programs for this purpose. You can opt out under Section 11.1.
5.4 Your choices. Whenever any analytics or advertising technology is active on the Site, a cookie banner appears on your first visit and lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or choose categories. Analytics and advertising cookies are not set until you make a choice. If none of these technologies is active, no banner appears because there is nothing to choose. You can view or change your choice at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the Site footer or the Your Privacy Choices page at https://sewercleaningcompany.com/privacy-choices/. You can also set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising directly with the platforms: Google Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, Meta Ad Preferences at https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences, the Network Advertising Initiative at https://optout.networkadvertising.org, and the Digital Advertising Alliance at https://optout.aboutads.info. Opting out stops the tailoring of ads to you; you will still see ads, and some Site features may not work if you block strictly necessary cookies.
5.5 Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. If your browser or extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of advertising cookies and audience sharing for that browser, and the Site will not load advertising tags for you. The Site does not respond to older "Do Not Track" signals, which have no accepted standard.
6. Text Messaging
6.1 Programs. We offer Service Messages (about your inquiry or job) and Marketing Messages (offers and reminders). The full program terms, including how to opt in, message frequency, costs, and how to get help, are in Section 8 of our Terms of Use.
6.2 Consent. We send Service Messages only after you opt in by checking the text message box on one of our forms, texting us, or asking us to text you. We send Marketing Messages only with your separate prior express written consent, which is never a condition of buying our Services.
6.3 Key disclosures. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; we will send one confirmation message and then stop. Reply HELP, call 440-290-6055, or email assist@sewercleaningcompany.com for help. You may also opt out by any other reasonable method, and we honor opt-outs no later than 10 business days after receipt (Terms of Use Section 8.5).
6.4 What we keep. We keep your mobile number, your opt-in and opt-out records, and the content of messages exchanged with you for as long as needed to communicate with you and to demonstrate compliance with telephone consumer protection laws.
6.5 No marketing sharing. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and mobile numbers collected for texting are never used to build advertising audiences. See Section 4.3.
6.6 Registration. Before we send messages under either program, we register it with The Campaign Registry (TCR) as mobile carriers require.
7. Email Communications
We send transactional emails (estimates, invoices, appointment details, review requests after service) as part of providing our Services. We may also send marketing emails, such as offers and seasonal maintenance tips, to customers and to people who ask for them. When we do, we follow the CAN-SPAM Act: promotional emails are identified as such, include our physical business address, and include a working unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. You may also unsubscribe by contacting us (Section 18). Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not stop transactional emails about your service. Our emails may contain small images or links that tell us whether an email was opened or clicked so we can measure and improve our communications.
8. Phone Calls, Call Tracking, and Call Recording
Calls to and from Sewer Cleaning Company, including calls to 440-290-6055 and to any call tracking numbers shown on the Site or in our ads, may be recorded and monitored for quality assurance, employee training, dispatch and estimate accuracy, dispute resolution, and recordkeeping. Recorded calls begin with a recording announcement. Ohio law permits recording with the consent of one party to the call; if you do not wish to be recorded, tell the representative at the start of the call or contact us by email at assist@sewercleaningcompany.com instead. When call tracking is active (Section 5), our call tracking provider also records the call details described in Section 2.2 so we can tell which advertising led to your call. Call recordings and call data are treated as personal information under this Policy, are accessible only to personnel and service providers who need them, and are retained as described in Section 10.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure, including access controls, secure vendor platforms, and staff training. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulators as required by applicable law, including Ohio's data breach notification law.
10. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy and as required by law. In general:
- Service records, estimates, invoices, inspection photos and video, and related communications are kept for the life of any warranty on the work and for the period required for licensing, permit, tax, accounting, insurance, and legal purposes.
- Call recordings and chat transcripts are kept for a limited period for quality and dispute resolution purposes and then deleted, unless needed for a specific dispute, claim, or legal requirement.
- Text message consent and opt-out records are kept for as long as we text you and thereafter for the period needed to demonstrate compliance.
- Marketing email lists are kept until you unsubscribe; unsubscribe records are kept so that we do not email you again.
- Analytics and advertising data, when those tools are in use, are retained by the platforms for the periods set in their tools, which we configure to the shortest practical period.
- Job application records are kept as required by employment recordkeeping laws.
- Website server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.
11. Your Choices and Rights
11.1 Marketing and advertising choices. Text messages: reply STOP (Terms of Use Section 8.5). Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us. Marketing calls: tell us not to call you for marketing purposes. Interest-based advertising and audience sharing: use the Your Privacy Choices page at https://sewercleaningcompany.com/privacy-choices/, the Cookie Settings link in the Site footer, or a Global Privacy Control signal (Section 5.5); to be removed from matched advertising audiences (Section 5.3), email assist@sewercleaningcompany.com with the subject "Advertising opt-out" and the email address to remove, and we will process it within 15 business days.
11.2 Your requests. Regardless of where you live, you may ask us to:
- Access: tell you what personal information we hold about you, the categories of sources and recipients, and provide a copy;
- Correct: fix inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Delete: delete your personal information, subject to exceptions (for example, records we must keep for warranty, licensing, tax, accounting, insurance, employment, or legal purposes, and text message consent records we must keep to show compliance);
- Portability: provide a copy in a portable format where practical;
- Opt out: stop sharing your information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, as described in Section 11.1.
11.3 How to submit a request. Contact us using the information in Section 18, or use the Your Privacy Choices page, and describe your request. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity (for example, by confirming details on file about your service) before acting; opt-out requests do not require verification. We will respond within 45 days and may extend that period by another 45 days for complex requests, in which case we will tell you. If we decline all or part of a request, we will explain why. You may appeal a decision by replying to our response; we will review the appeal and respond in writing within 45 days. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written proof of authority.
11.4 Non-discrimination. We will not deny you services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.
11.5 State privacy laws. If you are a resident of a state with a comprehensive privacy law that applies to your relationship with us, we will honor your rights under that law in accordance with its requirements.
12. Children's Privacy
The Site and our Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and Site users under 18 should use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian (Terms of Use Section 3). We do not knowingly use the information of anyone under 16 for interest-based advertising. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Job Applicants
If you apply for a job through our Careers page or otherwise, we collect the information in your application, which may include your name, address, phone number, email address, confirmation that you are at least 18 years old, the position you are applying for, desired pay, whether you hold a valid driver's license, your work history and qualifications, and your typed signature. We use this information to evaluate your application, communicate with you about it, conduct reference and background checks with your authorization where the law requires it, and comply with employment laws. We share it with our service providers (such as background check providers and applicant tracking or HR software) and as required by law. We keep application records as required by employment recordkeeping laws. Application information is not used for marketing or advertising. Sewer Cleaning Company is an equal opportunity employer.
14. Tenants, Occupants, and Property Managers
We often perform work for property owners, landlords, and property managers at properties occupied by others. If you occupy such a property, we may receive your contact and scheduling information from the owner or manager and may share information about the appointment and the work performed with them, since they are our customer for that job. If you are an owner or property manager, you agree to provide only the occupant information needed to schedule and perform the work and to make any disclosures to occupants that the law or your lease requires.
15. International Users
The Site and our Services are intended for use in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer.
16. Third-Party Websites
The Site links to third-party websites and platforms, including Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and NASSCO. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Review their privacy policies before providing them with information.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices, our Services, or the law. We will post the updated Policy on the Site and change the Effective Date at the top. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where the law requires it, such as by email or text message to affected customers. Your continued use of the Site or our Services after the Effective Date of an update means you acknowledge the updated Policy.
